Jute Rugs |
The art of jute rugs making dates back many thousands years - perfectly dyed jute rugs have been found in Neolithic remains. Few hundred years ago jute rugs weaving was a tradition of native craftsmen from South of Asia. In such countries as India, Nepal and Bangladesh jute rugs are still widely used.
In the eighteenth century wonderful jute rugs were quite popular in the British Empire. Throughout history jute rugs have been appreciated for their capacity to take and hold beautiful colors. The internal fibers of a jute stalk are very soft after retting, cleaning and combing and being spun into threads.
Even though the fiber of jute is soft it is strong and durable enough. Natural jute rugs vary in colors from light tans to browns – every colour is clearly visible in each rug. Perhaps the most interesting capacity of jute rugs is their beautiful play of colours under direct sunlight.
In addition jute rugs can be easily cleaned by shampooing or dry-cleaning. |
